Gardaí ‘committed to uncovering truth’ of McCarrick murder

Gardaí say they are committed to uncovering the truth and progressing the investigation into the murder and disappearance of Annie McCarrick 31 years ago tomorrow.
Originally from New York, Ms McCarrick was 26 when she vanished from Dublin on 26 March 1993.
She had settled in Sandymount, Dublin, in January that year and worked as a waitress at the Courtyard Restaurant in Donnybrook and Café Java in Leeson Street.
Ms McCarrick had bought groceries on the morning of 26 March 1993 in Quinnsworth, Sandymount Road – confirmed by a receipt found in unpacked shopping bags found in her apartment.
Gardaí say the tragedy, which was upgraded to a murder investigation last year, “continues to deeply affect her loved ones and the wider community”.
A garda spokesperson said: “As we commemorate the 31st anniversary of Annie’s disappearance, An Garda Síochána remains committed to uncovering the truth and progressing this investigation.
“Gardaí are renewing their appeal to the public for any information that may shed light on Annie’s disappearance and murder.
“Individuals who may have interacted with Annie on or after March 26, 1993, are urged to come forward and assist in the investigation.”
Ms McCarrick is described as 5’8″ in height, weighing 10 stone, with long brown hair. She spoke with a soft Irish-American accent.
Gardaí believe she had a large brown leather bag with her when she disappeared.
