China said on Tuesday that it opposes The Construction of Infrastructure by India for military purposes in the border areas of Ladakh. The neighboring country said that the two countries should refrain from activities that would make the situation more complicated rather than resolved.

Replying to a question by a Western media journalist here, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin said, “China has not recognized the Illegally constructed Union Territory of Ladakh by India. The journalist asked him a question regarding prioritizing the construction of a high-altitude road network along the border with China in the Ladakh region of India.

It may be recalled that a day after the state of Jammu and Kashmir was divided into two Union territories on August 5, 2019, China opposed India’s move to make Ladakh a separate Union territory, the then spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs had said that India does not comment on the internal affairs of other countries and similarly expects other countries.

“We oppose India’s infrastructure construction for military purposes in the border areas of Ladakh,” Wang said. The two countries should not indulge in any activity in the border areas which will make the situation more complicated. ”

Replying to another question on reports on large-scale development of infrastructure in China’s border areas, Wang said that the reports issued by “some institutions” are “totally wrong” saying that China has built new military bases on its side.

“China fully adheres to the agreements signed with India. We are fully committed to creating an atmosphere of peace and stability along the border with India, and on the other hand, we firmly safeguard our sovereignty, territorial integrity, and security. ”

Wang said that for a long time China has been conducting activities on its side near the Line of Actual Control (LAC) and has always adhered to relevant agreements.

“We hope that the Indian side will work for the same goal and work with China to calm the situation and avoid adding complex factors to the concerted efforts being made by both sides to normalize the situation,” he said. ”
