A nutritionist spoke about the benefits of a vegan diet

Vegetable food favorably affects the state of the digestive system, and also strengthens the immune system. On November 1, nutritionist Svetlana Lisitsyna told the RIAMO portal about the benefits of a vegan diet.

According to her, fruits and vegetables contain a sufficient amount of vitamins, minerals and trace elements. Thus, even in the absence of animal products in the diet, the body can receive useful substances.

“Plant food is rich in fiber, it will have a positive effect on our digestive organs, improving the intestinal microbiota, while strengthening our immunity,” Lisitsyna explained.

She noted that such food can be useful for people with high sugar, increased glucose tolerance or diagnosed diabetes. This is due to the fact that plant foods contain a small amount of glucose.

The nutritionist listed the foods that are usually included in the diet of vegans. Among them, she attributed tofu, chickpeas, soy and soy meat, coconut milk. In addition, vegans consume cereals and bread.

“Nuts are very often used, peas, lentils, mushrooms, seaweed, nori leaves, various oils, such as coconut, avocado. Mushrooms are a good source of protein, as is tofu, ”added Lisitsyna.

Earlier that day, endocrinologist Alena Vavilova gave advice on nutrition in the autumn-winter season . According to her, in the cold, the body’s thermoregulation is rebuilt, metabolism accelerates, and food serves as the main “fuel” in this process, so people feel hungry more often. To avoid weight gain during the cold season, the doctor advised me to make healthy snacks and drink more pure non-carbonated water.
