United Nations, PTI. The delta variant of the coronavirus, which has been found in about 85 countries, is the fastest spreading of all the variants of the corona that have come to the fore. This variant is spreading rapidly among unvaccinated populations. This was stated by the head of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus. He said at Friday’s press briefing that he is aware that there is currently a lot of concern about the delta variant globally and the WHO is also concerned about it.

Many countries have relaxed Corona-related restrictions. Ghebreyesus also expressed concern about this. He said that we are seeing an increase in the cases of corona across the world. More cases being reported means more patients being admitted to hospitals. Further strain on health workers and health systems. This increases the risk of death. Expressing the possibility of more new variants of corona coming out, he said that we can prevent more variants from being born by stopping the spread of infection.

In a stern warning, Dr. Maria Van Kerkhove, Corona’s technical head at the WHO, said the delta variant is a ‘dangerous’ virus and is spreading more rapidly than the alpha variant. Many European countries are seeing a decline in cases, but there are many more events taking place across the region. These also include big sports or religious events. This can have very bad consequences. The delta variant is spreading rapidly among people who have not been vaccinated. In some countries, many people have been vaccinated. Yet the entire population of those countries has not yet been vaccinated. Many people have not yet received the second dose.
