Center Received Warning On Corona At The Beginning

India is facing an unprecedented crisis due to the second wave of Corona virus infection these days.
A forum of scientific advisors created by the government warned of a new and more contagious variant of the corona virus as early as March.

The government ignored this warning and did not impose any restrictions. Five scientists involved in the forum have given this information to the news agency Reuters.

INSAGOC warned

Four of these five scientists said that despite the warning, the central government did not impose any major restriction to stop the spread of the virus. Thousands of people continued to attend religious events and rallies of political parties without wearing masks.
According to Reuters, the Indian SARS-CoV-2 Genetic Consortium (INSACOG) had informed a top official about the more contagious variants of the virus, which reports directly to Prime Minister Modi.

No response from Prime Minister’s Office

So far it has not been known whether that officer has passed this information to the Prime Minister or even kept it to himself. There is no response from the Prime Minister’s Office so far in this matter.

The government formed INSACOG in December and was tasked with detecting genomic variants of the virus.
For this, 10 laboratories across the country were brought together so that different variants could be studied.
The researchers of INSACOG first detected the B.1.617 variants of the corona in February and its information was given to the Ministry of Health with a warning that this variant could increase the corona cases.

Jamil said that the policy should be based on evidence. He said, “I am worried that science was not taken care of for policy making. As scientists, we can only give evidence, policy making is the work of the government.”
Even after this warning from INSAGOC, many large states including Prime Minister Modi continued to address rallies of thousands of people and the Kumbh Mela in Haridwar continued with nominal restrictions.
India is facing another dreadful wave of corona infection these days, due to which the situation here has worsened.
In the country, 4,01,993 new cases of corona were reported and 3,523 patients died. These are the highest number of cases reported in a single day in the country.
