Some minor damage was reported from concussions caused by Iranian missile strikes near the US embassy branch in Tel Aviv, though no injuries to US personnel occurred. The US Ambassador to Israel said the embassy and consulate will remain officially closed today, as a shelter-in-place order is still in effect.
The Israeli Army on Monday claimed that it had attacked the headquarters of the Quds Force, one of five branches of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. This comes days after the commander of the elite Quds Force, Esmail Waani, was killed in an Israeli airstrike. “I woke up at 2:30 am on Friday to loud explosions and rushed to the basement. We haven’t slept since,” says Imtisal Mohidin, one of hundreds of Indian medical students stranded in Iran told news agency ANI.
With blasts reported just a few kilometres from student hostels and apartments, fear is mounting — and so is the plea to the Government of India: evacuate us before it’s too late. European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen revealed that she agreed with Benjamin Netanyahu over a call that “Iran should not have a nuclear weapon, without any question.”
A strong critic of Netanyahu’s military actions in Gaza, Von der Leyen has voiced other European leaders’ concerns, saying that Iran can not be allowed to have a nuclear weapon.
