Four Patriot missiles were reportedly launched from Israeli territory, with three of them exploding in the airspace of southern Lebanon and the fourth falling in one of the plains in the area. UN asks Israel to rescind northern Gaza evacuation order to avoid ‘devastating’ consequences.

Members of the Houthis group gather in support of Palestine in Sana’a, Yemen amid conflict between Israel and Hamas.

Generally we have been surprised by the messages and even the warnings that have been delivered [by Israel] to a lot of people who are residing in the north and even central Gaza Strip to evacuate their homes… and the areas they live in and move forward to the south of the Gaza Strip.

You are talking about more than one million Palestinians who will leave their houses and move to the south of the Gaza Strip, an area that isn’t really [big] enough to host this massive number of displaced people.

It would be hard for them to move in this great number. The space in the Gaza Strip only contains around 365 square kilometres. You’re talking about half of the population [who] will move to live in half of the space they used to live.

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) says it has relocated its centre of operations and international staff to southern Gaza.

The UNRWA announcement comes amid an order by Israel that all Palestinians evacuate the north of Gaza within 24 hours – a relocation that would affect some 1.1 million people.

UNRWA’s humanitarian operations and support for Palestinian refugees will continue in the south of the Gaza Strip, the organisation said.

“UNRWA urges the Israeli authorities to protect all civilians in UNRWA shelters including schools. They are UN facilities. They must be protected at all times and must never come under attack in accordance with international humanitarian law,” Juliette Touma, UNRWA Director of Communications, said in a statement.
