Hamas Agreed To US Proposal On Gaza Ceasefire, Says Palestinian Official

The new proposal, tabled by US special envoy Steve Witkoff, pitched for the release of ten Israeli hostages in two groups, in exchange for a 70-day ceasefire and a partial withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip.

“The proposal includes the release of ten living Israeli hostages held by Hamas in two groups in return for a 70-day ceasefire and a partial withdrawal from the Gaza Strip,” the official said.

It added that the proposal was received by Hamas through mediators, paving the way for a possible end to the Israel-Hamas war.

The agreement also includes the release of numerous Palestinian prisoners held by Israel, many of whom are serving long sentences.

Meanwhile, there was no immediate response from Israel on the matter.

The development comes weeks after Israel declared its intention to “take full control” of Gaza as its military ramped up operations in the heavily affected region.
