Earthquake In Jammu And Kashmir: Udhampur, Kishtwar, Doda And Poonch Affected By 5.1 Magnitude Tremors

The tremors were felt in Jammu and Kashmir at around 7.30 pm on Monday. Its center was 63 km north-east of Katra in Jammu, at a depth of 5 km from the ground. The magnitude of this earthquake on the Richter scale has been measured at 5.1. No information has been reported about the loss of life or property.
Tremors have been felt in Udhampur, Doda, Kishtwar, and Poonch. People in Kishtwar have experienced tremors twice. In Kishtwar and Udhampur districts, people came out of their houses in open ground.

Earthquake for the second time this year in Jammu and Kashmir

This is the second time earthquake tremors have been felt in Jammu and Kashmir. Earlier, on January 4, Bandipora had a 3.5 magnitude earthquake. Last year, there were 4 tremors in December. On December 16, there were three earthquakes of magnitude 4.0, 4.3, and 3.7. On December 21 too, shocks of 3.7 were felt.

Tremors were felt in Himachal on Saturday

On Saturday 9 January, earthquake tremors were felt in many areas in Himachal Pradesh. After the earthquake tremors, people came out of their homes in panic. The intensity of the earthquake was measured at 4.2. According to the National Center of Seismology, the epicenter of the earthquake that occurred at around 8.22 pm was at Kareri Lake in Kangra.
