Azerbaijan Warns Of Attacks On Armenia’s Military Bases, Says, Don’t Target Civilian Hideouts

Read Time:1 Minute, 26 Second

In the ongoing battle with Armenia, Azerbaijan has said that the enemy is now attacking civilians. A civilian was killed while four others were injured in a rocket attack on behalf of Armenia in Ganja city. Azerbaijan has warned that if attacks on civilian hideouts are not stopped, it will attack the military bases in Armenia and ruin them. Meanwhile, Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev has tweeted that his forces have captured the Town of Jabaral in the Nagorno-Karabakh area and some villages. Armenia has termed the claim as false.

The conflict between the two countries, which is part of the Soviet Union, has been going on for a week. The scope of the battle has been feared to be spread after fresh claims of the attack on Azerbaijan’s civilian hideouts. So far, the center of the battle remains the Nagorno-Karabakh area of Azerbaijan. The majority of the population is Christians of Armenian origin who do not like Muslim-majority Azerbaijan. This has led to a continuous tension between Azerbaijan and Armenia after the Soviet Union was broken.

Azerbaijan’s presidential assistant Hikmat Hajiyev has said that if Armenia does not stop attacks on civilian hideouts, the military bases within Armenia will be attacked and destroyed. But Armenia has denied any attack on the civilian hideout. The leader of the Nagorno-Karabakh area has said that his army targeted the military airbase of Ganja and not the civilian hideouts. The aircraft is flying from the same airbase to the Nagorno-Karabakh bombing. It may be noted that Turkey is giving military support to Azerbaijan while Armenia is Russia’s strategic partner. If the scope of the battle is spread, it can take the form of a fierce war.
