Team India T20 World Cup Celebration Updates: After being hosted by PM Narendra Modi in New Delhi, the Indian cricket team will head to Mumbai for a BCCI felicitation and a trophy parade. Check out the vehicular restrictions for South Mumbai.

The Indian cricket team has left from 7, Lok Kalyan Marg, after meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Indian team touched down in New Delhi early on Thursday morning after winning the T20 World Cup. The players were given a rousing reception at the IGI Airport, at the team hotel and on the way to the hotel.

Team India has a full schedule at hand today: after meeting PM Narendra Modi, they have a BCCI felicitation function at the Wankhede Stadium besides doing an open bus trophy tour in Mumbai. For fans of the Indian team, entry at the Wankhede Stadium for the felicitation function is free, but it will be on a first-come basis. The gates for the Wankhede Stadium will be open from 4 pm. In Mumbai, the traffic police has closed seven roads in South Mumbai for traffic while parking is prohibited on 10 roads. Scroll down for all vehicular restrictions in Mumbai.

Team India was stuck in Barbados because of a hurricane, but were flown out of the West Indies in a specially-arranged charter flight. Team India flew from Barbados to New Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport in an Air India flight AIC24WC — Air India Champions 24 World Cup — that left around 4:50 am local time on Wednesday and arrived in Delhi at 6 am IST on Thursday after a 16-hour non-stop journey. Team India defeated South Africa by seven runs in the final in Bridgetown on Saturday last week.

After the Indian cricket team’s win at the T20 World Cup, former England captain Michael Vaughan has predicted them to win many more titles.

‘My worry — actually it’s a concern — is for the rest of the world now that India have won this trophy which has been hard for them to win. India have such a powerful squad. If you look at the Champions Trophy in Pakistan which will be held in similar conditions. The T20 World cup in 2026 will be held in Sri Lanka and India, we know what’s going to go on. They’re very powerful. They’ve now won a World Test Championship final yet despite being in the last two. I’m sure they will make the next final as well. This group of Indian players, I think, they could go on a bit of a roll. They could go on a real roll. If you look at Australia, they have a powerful team. They;re going to be continue to be powerful. England are going to go through a bit of a transitional period. New Zealand are going to go through a transition. Don’t really need to mention Bangladesh. There are not many teams that I can look at that can go close to this Indian team.

Mumbaikars headed to the Marine Drive promenade

Mumbai Police DCP Zone 1 Pravin Munde on Wednesday in a video statement said, “Indian cricket team is reaching Mumbai tomorrow after winning the T20 World Cup. A victory procession in an open bus is being held from 5-7 pm on Marine Drive between Nariman Point and Wankhede Stadium. If you want to attend the procession, kindly reach before 4:30 pm and assemble on the promenade side and not on the road. Also, a victory lap is being held in Wankhede Stadium at 7 pm. If you wish to attend that, please ensure you reach and be seated in the stadium before 6 pm. Kindly try to use the public transport system to avoid traffic congestion.”
