Player Ratings: Real Madrid 2-0 Girona; 2025 La Liga

Thibaut Courtois—6.5: Made two good saves to maintain the clean sheet.

Lucas Vazquez—6: Back in the line-up and proved reliable. Defended well and linked up with Rodyrgo and Brahim down the right.

Raul Asencio—7: Stay composed and handled any pressure from Girona. Another good outing from the youngster.

David Alaba—7: Great to see the veteran return with 73 minutes under his belt today. Played several long balls into the path of Vinicius and Mbappe that showed he still has that differential quality playing out of the back.

Ferland Mendy—6.5: Subdued in the attack but defensively looking more and more like the Ferland Mendy of old.

Luka Modric—9: It’s clear this Real Madrid team need one of Dani Ceballos or Luka Modric in the team to function. The Croatian did not miss a beat. From minute one, he sprayed passes all across the length of the pitch. Finished the game with a team high 126 touches, 112 passes, 6 key passes, and a vintage Modric golazo to break the deadlock.

Tchouameni—7: Continues his good run of form in midfield. Finished the game at center back alongside Rudiger.

Brahim Diaz—6: Played on both the left and right flank; tried to create but lacked his normal impact.

Rodrygo—6.5: Combined well with his teammates and drew the applause of the Santiago Bernabeu in the second half after out working two Girona players to keep possession. Not as lively in the final third, with 0 shots on target.

Vinicius Junior—7.5: Scored with a toe-poke finish after linking well with Mbappe, though he hit the crossbar earlier and mispassed once to Mbappe. End product was inconsistent despite the goal.

Kylian Mbappe—8: Registered an assist to Vinicius, but his performance merited a goal. Missed several chances that normally would be tucked away. Overall game was strong and contributing more and more as a number nine.

Substitutions:

Eduardo Camavinga—7: Strong tackles and good switches of play in midfield.

Dani Ceballos—6: Kept possession in brief minutes. No big contribution.

Antonio Rudiger—N/A: Came on late and stayed solid. Not enough time to rate.

Endrick—8: Late substitution in the 87th minute but made his mark with a brilliant solo run before setting up Mbappe. The Frenchman missed his 1v1 but Endrick’s contribution did not go unnoticed.
