No Rohit, Virat, Bumrah For SL Tour As BCCI Wants Them To Rest Before Upcoming Home Season
The Indian cricket board wants the captain of the T20 World Cup winning team and the other two seniors to take some more rest before returning for a full season in September when Bangladesh travels to India for two Tests and three T20Is starting on September 19.
Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah will not be part of the Indian team that will tour Sri Lanka later this month.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India or BCCI is likely to exclude star players Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Jasprit Bumrah from the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka which will include three T20Is and ODIs. They have taken this step in order to give their players more rest before the home season. This means fans will have to wait a little longer to see the return of their favourite cricketers.
The tour of Sri Lanka is likely to start from July 27 to August 7 and will include three T20Is and ODIs. As Rohit and Virat have announced retirement they will not be part of the shortest format of the game. However, Bumrah will continue to play T20Is as well but despite this none of them will feature in the Sri Lanka tour.
BCCI wants these senior players to have some good rest before making their much-awaited return for a full season in September when Bangladesh comes to India for two Tests and three T20Is starting on September 19.
After the current Zimbabwe series, the Men in Blue will be touring Sri Lanka for three T20Is and three ODIs. However, the schedule for this tour is yet to be announced. But with both Rohit and Virat out of the tour. they can make their potential return after taking a longer break before their return, they will most likely make their much-awaited return for the home Test series against Bangladesh. This series will be crucial for India’s campaign in the ongoing cycle of the World Test Championship.
