Eng vs NZ 2nd Test: New Zealand without their regular captain Kane Williamson will look to win the second Test against England starting on Thursday. Kane Williamson will miss the second Test due to an elbow injury and will be replaced by Tom Latham. The first match of the series played at Lord’s in London was inconclusive.
The New Zealand team management decided not to field their regular captain in the second Test for the World Test Championship (WTC) final against India from June 18 to avoid serious injury. Latham will lead the side for the third time, while Will Young will replace Kane Williamson in the playing XI. Apart from this, the team management will rest their key bowlers in the second Test to keep them fresh.
Fast bowler Trent Boult will be available for the final match of the series and in such a situation, New Zealand can be rested among other key bowlers Tim Southee, Neil Wegner, and Kyle Jamieson. Two of these bowlers can also be given rest. Mitchell Santner is also out of the second test match. In such a situation, Trent Boult is sure to play the second match, but if any other fast bowler is rested, then it will be a matter to see which player will get a chance.
New Zealand head coach Gary Stead said before the second match that the bowlers are all in good shape, but that does not mean they will play in the next match. In the fast bowling department, Matt Henry, Doug Bracewell, and Jacob Tuffy can get a chance. Stead said, “With the WTC final in mind, we want to make sure that our leading bowlers are fresh and ready to show their charisma with the first ball against India.”
