Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad on Saturday announced that David Warner has been removed from the captaincy of the 14th season of the IPL. Who will captain the team for the remaining season of 2021? This has also been announced by Sunrisers Hyderabad. An official statement from SRH said, New Zealand captain Kane Williamson will captain the team for the rest of the season. Sunrisers Hyderabad is currently at the bottom of the points table with just 2 points from six matches.
The franchise has also indicated that there will be a change in the playing XI for their next match and the overseas set of players will definitely change. David Warner may have to sit out the match against Rajasthan Royals. In an official statement, Sunrisers Hyderabad said, “Sunrisers Hyderabad want to announce that Kane Williamson will take over the captaincy for tomorrow’s match and for the rest of the IPL 2021 season. The team management has also decided to change their overseas combination for tomorrow’s match against Rajasthan Royals. ”
A statement from Sunrisers Hyderabad further said, “This decision has not been taken easily, as the management respects the huge impact David Warner has had on the franchise for many years. As we face the remainder of this season, we are sure David Warner will continue to strive for success both on and off the field. SRH will take on Rajasthan Royals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Sunday. The team lost their last match of IPL 2021 to Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by seven wickets.
