Batting great Steve Smith welcomed the news of Ben Stokes returning to the Indian Premier League (IPL), saying the England all-rounder’s presence can boost the firepower in the Rajasthan Royals squad. Smith said it’s nice to possess Stokes back when asked concerning his impending arrival within the UAE once he won the toss against Royal Challengers Bangalore in the first day-game of the tournament n Abu Dhabi on Saturday.

England all-rounder Ben Stokes has left for the United Arab Emirates to join the Rajasthan Royals squad in the 2020 Indian Premier League. Stoke was in New Zealand throughout the last month along with his family, as he looked after his father who is diagnosed with brain cancer.

The 29-year-old cricketer had left England’s Test series against Pakistan mid-way in August to join his family in New Zealand.

Ben Stokes will be in a necessary quarantine period for six days before joining the Rajasthan Royals teammates. He is likely to be available for their seventh IPL 2020 match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on October 11. Stokes had left for New Zealand midway during the Pakistan series, saying his head wasn’t into cricket thanks to the cancer diagnosis of his father. Stokes had begun training with the red ball in Christchurch last month to organize for the IPL.

The Rajasthan Royals’ overseas player-rosters largely includes players from England and Australia. While Stokes’ English teammates Jofra Archer and Jos Buttler have already created appearances for the facet this season, Australia’s Steve Smith leads the aspect.
