India women’s team secured their second successive Women’s Kabaddi World Cup title in Dhaka, beating Chinese Taipei 35–28 in the final on Monday, November 24. India maintained excellent form throughout the tournament, winning all their group matches to reach the semi-finals, where they faced Iran.
They continued their sensational form in the knockouts as well and defeated Iran 33–21 to secure a place in the final. On the other hand, Chinese Taipei had also enjoyed an unbeaten group stage and advanced to the final after overcoming hosts Bangladesh 25–18 in their semi-final clash. However, it was India who held their nerve in the summit clash and secured their second consecutive World Cup title.
Following their historic win, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also congratulated the team and said that the victory will inspire future generations to take up the sport.
