‘Pressure still insufficient’: Zelenskyy slams US for ‘no response’ after Putin rejects ceasefire

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Sunday demanded a swift response from US President Donald Trump over Russia’s refusal to sign “a full, unconditional ceasefire” amid the prolonged war between the two sides.
“We are waiting for the United States to respond; so far, there has been no reply,” Zelenskyy said.
Zelenskyy added that “the number of Russian air attacks is increasing,” which he said proved that “the pressure on Russia is still insufficient.”
This comes after a fresh batch of missile and drone attacks by Moscow killed two people and wounded seven in Kyiv.

Earlier in the day, Russia “launched a massive nationwide attack on Ukraine using ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and drones,” said Ukraine’s first deputy prime minister Yulia Svyrydenko.
Over the past week, Russia has launched more than 1,460 guided aerial bombs, nearly 670 attack drones, and over 30 missiles of various types on Ukraine, Zelenskyy said.
Ukraine has agreed to an unconditional truce in the more than three-year-long war proposed by the United States, but Russian President Vladimir Putin has refused to do so.
On Sunday, French President Emmanuel Macron also backed Zelenskyy’s calls for a stronger response to Russia and said, “A ceasefire is needed as soon as possible. And strong action if Russia continues to try to buy time and refuse peace.”
US President Donald Trump is pushing the two sides to agree to a partial ceasefire, but his administration has failed to broker an accord acceptable to both.
The Kremlin, meanwhile, said on Monday that Putin remains open to dialogue with Trump but acknowledged that no formal talks have been scheduled. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov described the negotiations as a “drawn-out process” and noted that while efforts are ongoing, significant hurdles remain.
On the battlefield, both Russia and Ukraine continue their military operations. Ukrainian forces reported heavy Russian attacks across multiple regions, including missile and drone strikes targeting Kharkiv. Ukraine’s air force confirmed that Russia launched more than 100 drones and missiles over the weekend, with some successfully intercepted.
