Time For Melodi Memes?

PM Modi’s meetings with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni have frequently sparked a wave of lighthearted memes on social media. Earlier, during his podcast debut with Zerodha co-founder Nikhil Kamath, PM Modi was asked about the viral content featuring him and Giorgia Meloni that has circulated over the past couple of years. With a smile, the Prime Minister brushed it off, saying, “Woh toh chalta rehta hai” (That keeps happening).

PM Modi’s Meeting With World Leaders

Earlier in the day, PM Modi was received by Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney upon his arrival at the summit venue. A video clip captured Mark Carney personally welcoming PM Modi with a handshake in Kananaskis.

In addition to his exchange with Giorgia Meloni and Mark Carney, PM Modi held interactions with several other global leaders, including French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, and South African President Cyril Ramaphosa. After a round of brief engagements, PM Modi joined the G7 for the traditional group photograph.

One of the key bilateral meetings of PM Modi was with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. Following the meeting, PM Modi wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “Delighted to hold talks with Chancellor Friedrich Merz on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in Canada… We will keep working together in areas like counter-terrorism and striking down on terror financing.”

The two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing cooperation in trade, green energy, mobility, technology and education. They also discussed regional and global challenges, with a particular focus on combating terrorism, according to a statement by the Ministry of External Affairs.

“The leaders agreed that terrorism constitutes a major threat to peace and stability in the world. Prime Minister thanked Chancellor Merz for Germany’s strong expression of solidarity with and support to India’s actions in the fight against terrorism,” the MEA said.
