On the recommendations of the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Government of India has banned the 16 Pakistani YouTube channels including Dawn News, Samaa TV, Ary News, Geo News for disseminating provocative and communally sensitive content, false and misleading narratives and misinformation against India, its Army and security agencies in the backdrop of the tragic Pahalgam terror incident in Jammu and Kashmir, ANI quoted govt sources as saying.
As per ANI, ED’s “investigation conducted in the matter revealed that accused liquor contractors used to prepare challans of small amounts and deposit them in the bank. In the prescribed format of the challan, “Rs. in figures” and “Rs in Words” were written. The value was filled in figures; however, blank space was left after “Rs. in Words”. After depositing the amount, the depositor would later write the increased amount in the form of lakh thousand in the above-mentioned blank space, and copies of the so-called challans of such increased amounts would be submitted at the respective country liquor warehouse or at the district excise office in case of Foreign Liquor.”
ED raids underway at 11 premises in Madhya PradeshED is conducting search & seizure actions at 11 premises belonging to different liquor contractors in the state of MP at Bhopal, Indore, Mandsaur. ED initiated investigation in the matter on the basis of an FIR against the Liquor Contractors, for causing loss to government revenue to the tune of Rs. 49,42,45,615/- through forgery and manipulation of treasury challans, and for unlawfully obtaining a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the acquisition of liquor during the period FY 2015 -16 to FY 2017-18.
At least seven people were injured after a car hit multiple vehicles and pedestrians in Bihar’s capital Patna, police said on Monday. The accident occurred on Bailey Road on Sunday night, a senior officer said.
According to the police, the driver of a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) first hit a car near Rajbanshi Nagar and then continued to drive recklessly.
The SUV then hit several people and vehicles along the way and overturned near the Income-Tax roundabout on Bailey Road, the officer said.
Additional traffic SP Alok Kumar Singh said, “Police arrested the driver, Shreyas Kumar (29), of the SUV near Kotwali Police station. He hit two cars and a motorcycle. During an attempt to escape, the driver hit another car, an autorickshaw, and pedestrians. Finally, the SUV overturned near the Income-Tax roundabout.”
The SUV driver, who was caught by locals and beaten up by them, has been undergoing treatment at a health facility, the SP said.
Seven people were injured in the accident, the officer said.
“The SUV has been impounded by the police. A medical test will also be conducted to determine whether the driver was in an intoxicated condition or not,” he said.

Talking to ANI, District Tourism Officer, Haridwar, Sushil Nautiyal said, “The offline registration facility for Char Dham Yatra has been started from today. We have provided 20 counters for the tourists, including separate counters for divyang, senior citizens and foreign nationals… Today is the first day of registration…Today’s limit of registration is 1000. It will be changed based on the instructions received from higher authorities.”
Offline registration for Chardham Yatra has started today, 28 April. 20 free registration counters have been set up in Haridwar. Char Dham Yatra will start from 30 April 2025, on the same day the doors of Gangotri and Yamunotri Dham will open.
Cheetah Nirva has given birth to five cubs at Kuno National Park (KNP) in Madhya Pradesh, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has said. With the new litter, the number of cheetahs and cubs will increase to 29 at KNP in Sheopur district. Earlier this month, two cheetahs from the protected forest were shifted to the Gandhi Sagar sanctuary.
The total number of cheetahs, including cubs, in the country now stands at 31.

Multiple injuries were reported in Clearwater, Florida, after a ferry crash near the city’s Memorial Causeway Bridge on Sunday evening, local officials said, adding a ferry with over 40 people onboard was struck by a boat that fled the scene.
Police and fire services were at the scene.
Clearwater Police Department said on social media nearby hospitals were notified and “multiple trauma alerts” were issued with helicopters transporting two of the more seriously injured people.
“The crash involved the Clearwater Ferry, which had more than 40 people on board,” police said, adding the U.S. Coast Guard will handle the probe into the incident.
“All of the injuries are from the ferry. The boat that struck the ferry fled the scene.”
CM Yogi Adityanath-led UP government said , “Massive encroachment removal campaign within a 10-15 km radius of the border area, strict action against illegal religious institutions too. A restive volcano in the central Philippines spewed a column of ash as high as 4.5 km (2.8 miles) into the sky on Monday morning, prompting authorities to raise the alert level at Mount Bulusan and warn residents to stay out of a 4-km danger zone.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) raised Bulusan’s alert status from 0 to 1 on its five-level scale, signalling low-level volcanic unrest and warning of possible phreatic eruptions.
Prior to the eruption, which occurred between 4:36 a.m. and 5:00 a.m on Monday, the institute had recorded 53 volcanic earthquakes over a 24-hour period and local officials reported rumbling sounds.
The U.S. State Department said it was concerned by North Korea’s direct involvement in Russia’s war in Ukraine and that Pyongyang’s military deployment for Russia must end.
“We continue to be concerned by (North Korea’s) direct involvement in the war. (North Korea’s) military deployment to Russia and any support provided by the Russian Federation to (North Korea) in return must end,” a State Department spokesperson said in an email, adding third countries like North Korea “bear responsibility” for the war.

The speeding van plunged into the well after hitting a bike in the Mandsaur district on Sunday, leaving 12 persons, including a biker and a rescuer, dead, police have said.
In a post on X, the CM Yadav announced financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh each to the families of the deceased, Rs 1 lakh each to those seriously injured, and Rs 50,000 each to those with minor injuries, from the CM’s discretionary fund.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced Rs 2 lakh ex-gratia for the kin of each of the 12 people who lost their lives in an accident in Madhya Pradesh’s Mandsaur district on Sunday.
The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) posted on X that PM Modi had offered condolences to the families of the deceased and wished for the swift recovery of the injured. An ex-gratia of Rs 50,000 was also announced for those who got injured.
The post of the PMO read, ” Saddened by the loss of lives in an accident in Mandsaur, Madhya Pradesh. Condolences to those who have lost their loved ones. May the injured recover soon. An ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh from PMNRF would be given to the next of kin of each deceased. The injured would be given Rs. 50,000:PM”
SC to hear plea to prohibit sexually explicit content on OTT, social media platforms today
The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear on Monday a plea seeking a direction to the Centre to take appropriate steps to prohibit streaming of sexually explicit content on over the top (OTT) and social media platforms. The plea has sought laying down of guidelines constituting a National Content Control Authority to prohibit sexually explicit content on these platforms.
