‘Only Issue Left Is Return of PoK’: India Draws Red Line On Kashmir, Rejects Mediation

India and Pakistan declared a ceasefire on May 10 after a 90-hour conflict, but tensions remain high. India, under Operation Sindoor, struck deep into Pakistan, targeting terror hubs after Pakistani provocations
Tensions between India and Pakistan remain high following the intense 90-hour conflict that led to the declaration of a ceasefire on May 10. However, Indian government sources suggest the situation is far from resolved, and that New Delhi’s military posture remains firm under Operation Sindoor. Furthermore, India has made its position on Kashmir clear that “only one matter left is the return of Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK).”
Sources, citing top government officials, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s orders were unequivocal: “Wahan se goli chalegi, yahan se gola chalega.” India struck deep inside Pakistani territory after Islamabad launched 26 coordinated attacks on Indian positions. The Indian Air Force responded with targeted strikes, inflicting major damage on terror camps and military air bases, including Bahawalpur, Muzaffarabad, and Muridke — known hubs of Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).
In a conversation with US Vice President JD Vance, PM Modi reportedly made it clear that any future provocation by Pakistan would invite an even “more devastating” response. The US played a limited role, with direct pressure applied only to Islamabad, reportedly linking IMF financial support to its willingness to stand down.
As per sources, there were no diplomatic discussions between the Indian and Pakistani National Security Advisors or foreign ministers. The only communication that took place was at the military level, through the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs).
Sources said India has made its position on Kashmir “crystal clear”: The only pending issue is the return of Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK). Any future dialogue with Islamabad will focus solely on the handover of terrorists, not political negotiations. “We don’t want any mediation. We don’t need it,” said one official.
This comes after US President Donald Trump offered to mediate between the two countries on the issue of Kashmir.

Three Objectives Achieved by India’s Operation Sindoor:

  • Military – High-value terror infrastructure was obliterated. “Bahawalpur, Muridke, and Muzaffarabad camps were turned to dust.”
  • Political – India linked the Indus Waters Treaty directly to terrorism, placing it in abeyance until cross-border terror ceases.
  • Psychological – India demonstrated the capability and will to strike deep inside Pakistani territory: “Ghus ke maarenge.”
  • Officials said Operation Sindoor is still “active” and India will respond to any new provocation with full force.
