Market engulfed in flames in Russia’s St Petersburg; several explosions heard

A devastating fire has engulfed one of St. Petersburg’s major markets, with reports of explosions. The blaze, which broke out Wednesday night in the Nevsky district, has tragically claimed one life and injured two others. Thick smoke billowed over the city as the entire market complex is believed to be consumed by flames.

A massive fire has erupted at one of St. Petersburg’s largest markets, with witnesses reporting several explosions at the site. According to Russia’s ministry of emergency situations, the blaze broke out in a market building in the Nevsky district on Wednesday night, killing one person.Russian media indicated that the entire market complex may have been engulfed in flames.

The cause of the fire remains unclear. At least two people were injured: a 52-year-old woman suffered carbon monoxide poisoning, while a man was hurt after jumping from the second floor to escape.Videos from the scene show intense flames and thick clouds of smoke rising over the city.
