
The airspace over Iran, Iraq, and nearby regions remains closed, leading to potential flight delays and longer travel times amid the escalating tensions between Israel and Iran, IndiGo said in an advisory on Saturday. In a post on X, IndiGo stated, “Airspace over Iran and surrounding areas, continue to be unavailable. Certain flight paths may need adjustments, leading to extended travel durations or delays.”
The airline further advised passengers, “We recommend checking your flight status on our website or mobile app before leaving for the airport. Our teams remain committed and available to provide any assistance you may need. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we strive to ensure a safe and seamless journey.”
Flight schedules in India were already affected on Friday due to the closure of airspace over Iran, Iraq, and surrounding regions. The advisory was issued after Israel carried out what it described as a “pre-emptive operation” against Iran on Friday, targeting the country’s nuclear program.
According to Iranian state media, shortly after Israel’s military reported detecting incoming missiles from Iranian territory, Iran launched a new wave of attacks on Israel early Saturday. “New round of Honest Promise 3 attacks,” state television reported, referring to the name of the Iranian military operation against Israel, following deadly Israeli strikes on the Islamic republic.

Iran retaliated late on Friday by unleashing scores of ballistic missiles on Israel, where explosions flared in the skies over Jerusalem and Tel Aviv and shook the buildings below.
