India on Thursday (May 22, 2025) reminded both Turkiye and China that relationships are built on “mutual sensitivities”, and urged Turkiye to play an active role in ending the growth of terrorism within Pakistan.

“We expect Turkiye to strongly urge Pakistan to end its support to cross-border terrorism and take credible and verifiable actions against the terror ecosystem it has harbored for decades. Relations are built on the basis of sensitivities to each other’s concerns,” Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said during his weekly media briefing.

His comments came against the backdrop of Turkiye delivering weapons to Pakistan even as India-Pakistan hostilities broke out earlier this month.

‘Mutual trust and respect’

Mr. Jaiswal also reminded China of the need for mutual respect, even as China hosted Pakistan Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar days after India and Pakistan called for the cessation of firing and military actions.

“Our (National Security Advisor) NSA and the Chinese (Foreign Minister) FM and Special Representative on Boundary Issue Wang Yi had spoken to each other on May 10, 2025, when the NSA conveyed India’s resolute stance against cross-border terrorism emanating from Pakistan. The Chinese side is aware that mutual trust, mutual respect and mutual sensitivity remain the basis of India-China relations,” Mr. Jaiswal said.
