In today’s fast-paced life, most people are ignorant about their health. History of World Food Safety Day

The day was announced to be celebrated in December 2018 by the United Nations General Assembly in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization. This was to recognize the burden on the world in relation to foodborne diseases. The World Health Organization and the Food and Agriculture Organization work together to celebrate World Food Safety Day in collaboration with other organizations related to the sector. According to WHO, one in ten people in the world falls ill by consuming spoiled food which is a health hazard and needs special attention.

The objective of World Food Safety Day

World Food Safety Day is celebrated every year on 7 June. Its purpose is to make people aware of nutritious food items.

This year the theme of the day is ‘Safe Eating Today for a Healthy Tomorrow’.

In recent times, a big impact is being seen on the living and eating habits of the people. Physical labor is decreasing and the trend of junk food from markets to homes is increasing. These foods are ready to eat or are prepared quickly, so people use them fast.

According to a World Watch study, the fast food industry in India is growing by 40 percent every year. Not only this, India has joined the top ten countries in the consumption of fast food in the world.
