What is the difference between men’s and women’s nightmares

Scientists have come to the conclusion that the nightmares of men and women are significantly different.

Nightmares visit all people, regardless of their gender. However, the stories are very different. According to the study, men more often dream of natural disasters (floods, earthquakes), and women – nightmares affecting personal relationships, writes The Voice of Russia. Men also often dream that bugs are chasing them, but the worst thing for women is dreams about social problems and interpersonal relationships (they are abandoned by their lover or they lose a friend).

It turns out that men are more tormented by dreams about things that can bring physical harm, says Dr. Genevieve Robert, a psychologist at the University of Montreal. But, interestingly, it is dreams about personality conflicts that can trigger a more powerful emotional response. This translates into more awakening episodes that reduce the quality of sleep.

These conclusions were made after a survey of 572 people. People were asked to write down their dreams (about 10,000 dreams were recorded in total). The most frequent topics concerned the fear of making a mistake, fear of attack, persecution.

Surprisingly, it is not at all necessary to be very frightened to wake up in a cold sweat. Many woke up feeling sad, embarrassed, guilty, disgusted.
