Read Time:28 Second

A Paris court in France on Monday convicted former President Nicolas Sarkozy in a corruption case and sentenced him to one year in jail and two years suspended imprisonment. Sarkozy (66), president of France from 2007 to 2012, was convicted in 2014 for attempting to obtain information illegally from a senior magistrate.

The court said that Sarkozy would be able to request custody at home and would have to wear an electronic bandage. Sarkozy will face another lawsuit this month, along with 13 others accused of using illicit funds during the 2012 presidential election.
