A hospital in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, treating Corona caught fire after an oxygen tank burst. 82 people died and more than 110 people were injured in the fire. A spokesman for Iraq’s Interior Ministry said that after this tragic accident, security measures have been asked to be reviewed afresh in all hospitals in the country. The fire took place on Saturday at Ibn Al Khatib Hospital in Diyala Bridge area.
People jumped out of the window to save their lives
An eyewitness told that the patient and his teammate were jumping out of the window to save their lives. The fire was spreading so fast, like it grows after being put in oil. All the patients injured in the fire have been admitted to other hospitals. Iraq’s Human Rights Commission has tweeted that there were 28 patients who were on ventilator. The Health Ministry says that two hundred people were taken out of the hospital in the fire.
The paddy minister said the direct fire was negligent
A second wave of corona is currently underway in Iraq. Prime Minister Mustafa Al Qadhimi has ordered an inquiry. He said that such a fire is directly negligent. It is noteworthy that the health structure of the long-suffering Iraq has been severely eroded. So far, more than 15 thousand deaths have been reported from Corona here.
