Drains Reported Overflow in Delhi After a Heavy Rain: Houses Collapsed!!

Delhi-NCR received its initial spell of heavy rains this Sunday morning which led to waterlogging in low-lying areas. It additionally led to power outages in some areas. After that, the Delhi Traffic Police posted alerts on Twitter to tell commuters regarding waterlogged roads.

As heavy rains whipped many components of Delhi and nearby areas this morning, houses at a slum in Delhi’s upscale ITO area collapsed when a canal running through the slum overflowed.

Meanwhile, the blame-game after the heavy rains inundated, Delhi started with the BJP and Congress blaming the AAP (Aam Aadmi Party). Speaking over the flood-like scenario within the NCR following heavy lashes of rain, Deputy CM Manish Sisodia said that civic bodies were busy in the COVID battle adding that they were attempting to beat shortcomings.

Earlier today, a person’s body was found floating in water close to a road below the iconic Minto bridge in the capital that was flooded by the heavy rain.

The body of the pick-up truck driver was noticed by a trackman operating at New Delhi yard when was working at the tracks. “I came, swam, and retrieved it. The body was floating in front of a bus,” Ramniwas Meena was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.

In another incident, a 55-year-old man was electrocuted to death in Delhi’s Jahagirpuri space.

The weather office had predicted a heavy to terribly heavy rain over parts of northwest India. “The entire monsoon trough is most likely to shift northwards, closer to the foothills of the Himalayas throughout July 19-20,” it had said.
