IGP (Kashmir Range) Vijay Kumar on Friday confirmed that the deadly attack on the three BJP staff in Kulgam was the handiwork of Resistance Front (TRF).
The Resistance Front (TRF) is believed to be a shadow cluster of the Lashkar-e-Taiba.
It may be noted that 3 BJP workers – Fida Hussain, Umer Hajam and Umer Rashid Beigh — were shot dead by terrorists in the YK Pora area of Kulgam district in south Kashmir late on Thursday evening.
The Resistance Front (TRF), which is believed to be a shadow cluster of LeT, claimed responsibility for the killings. Addressing a press briefing, IGP (Kashmir) Kumar said police have seized a vehicle employed in the attack which such killings were being executed at the behest of Pakistan.
Terrorists have since June stepped up attacks on BJP employees and leaders in the union territory, killing eight of them thus way.
In the same attack in Bandipora in July, a BJP leader, his father and brother were killed by the ultras.
“Three terrorists came in a native automobile belonging to a native militant identified as Altaf. Fida (Hussain) was with his two colleagues in an exceedingly automobile and the militants fired indiscriminately on them from close vary. They received grave injuries and succumbed on the approach to the hospital,” the IGP told reporters.
Kumar said after the attack, the attackers fled in the same automotive towards Achbal space, from where the automobile was seized this morning. A team of forensic science laboratory (FSL) has gone to Achbal to inspect the automotive, he added. The IGP said LeT was behind the killings.
Following the deadly attack, Prime Minister Narendra Modi condemned the killing of 3 BJP workers in Jammu and Kashmir and said they were bright youngsters doing wonderful work there.
“I condemn the killing of three of our young Karyakartas. They were bright youngsters doing excellent work in J&K,” PM Modi had said during a tweet. “My thoughts are with their families in now of grief. May their souls rest in peace,” he tweeted.
Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha conjointly condemned the killing of three political staff in Kulgam district. Expressing anguish over the killings, the Lt Governor said the perpetrators of violence are the enemies of humanity and such cowardly acts can’t be justified. Law shall take its course and also the guilty shall be dealt with sternly, he added.
“The names of LeT militants – a local militant from Dooru, Nisar Khanday; and Abbas from Khudwani who was previously associated with HM (Hizbul Mujahideen) and is currently with LeT and conjointly claims to be from TRF – are cropping up.
The involvement of these two is there, however there could be a FT (foreign terrorist) involved furthermore (in the attack), the IG said. The IGP asserted the security forces can neutralise them soon. Kumar said Hussain was one amongst the 1,619 vulnerable persons who were lodged in secure locations before the Centre’s decision to revoke the special standing of Jammu and Kashmir on August five last year.
“We had made a listing of one,619 vulnerable persons before August 5 (last year) and we have a tendency to had kept them in numerous hotels in secure areas. We had kept Fida (Hussain) during a hotel in Pahalgam where he stayed for 3 weeks. Recently, he gave an endeavor and left the hotel. We are investigating what they were doing in an exceedingly car in an area way removed from home,” he said.
Asked whether or not the attack was pre-planned, the IGP said it was attainable. “It appears so to us in addition because what were they doing aloof from home, looking ahead to somebody or not, then militants came, attacked them and then ran away to Achbal.
