Covid-19 update: Delhi reports over 290 active cases, 1 death

According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), Delhi today saw 294 active and one death as cases rise in the national capital and there are 56 more cases since yesterday. It reports the death of a “60 years old female with Acute Intestinal Obstruction Post Laprotomy along with Covid 19 finding incidental”.

On May 23, the Delhi Government issued an advisory instructing hospitals to ensure preparedness by maintaining the availability of beds, oxygen, essential medications, and operational equipment like ventilators and BiPAP machines.

‘No panic situation’

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta last week reassured the public that there was no need for concern, highlighting that hospitals were fully prepared to manage any potential increase in cases. “We have details of the Covid-19 cases. Our hospitals have all the facilities. We have also issued an advisory. We have analysed the scenario and there is no panic situation,” she told media, while stating the situation has been thoroughly reviewed.
