Although hair loss can be normal, it is often frustrating. Fortunately, some types of hair loss can be reversed with a healthy diet. An expert shares four key products that can help stop this process.

Although some types of hair loss are permanent, such as male pattern baldness and female pattern baldness, others may only be temporary. Between illness and stress, there are various factors that can trigger hair loss. The good news is that certain products can promote the health of your hair.

A healthy diet is a key factor when it comes to fighting or preventing various diseases. However, Abbas Kanani, pharmacist at Chemist Click, shared that four products can be particularly effective when it comes to hair loss. By using these products, you can increase sebum production and even stop hair loss. The promising foods in question are potatoes, spinach, fatty fish and eggs. Kanani said, “These products naturally contain vitamin D, which helps hair growth and reduces hair fall. Sebum helps keep the scalp moist, which in turn promotes hair growth and stops hair loss.” The expert recommends consuming at least one portion of fatty fish per week, which is equivalent to approximately 140 g. Fatty fish include salmon, sardines, herring and mackerel.

As far as nut options go, Brazil nuts can be especially beneficial because they also contain selenium, which helps the hair growth cycle function properly and is used in many hair loss supplements. Other healthy foods include peppers, guavas, broccoli, and citrus fruits. Kanani said: “These products are rich in vitamin C, an antioxidant that reduces the load on hair follicles from free radicals. Vitamin C also produces collagen, an amino acid that serves as the building block for thick, healthy hair.” A low level of vitamin C can cause anemia, the side effect of which is hair loss. Although healthy food and vitamins can help in some cases of hair loss, some types of hair loss can be permanent.
