The bereaved family of Kim Sae Ron has released screenshots of text messages exchanged between the late actress and Kim Soo Hyun in 2016.

On the afternoon of March 27, 2025, Bu Ji Seok, the legal representative of the bereaved family, held a press conference in Seocho-gu, Seoul, where he disclosed text messages exchanged between the deceased and Kim Soo Hyun in June 2016. He continued to assert that the two were in a romantic relationship when the late actress was still a minor.

The revealed messages included Kim Sae Ron sending a heart emoji and the onomatopoeia for kiss to Kim Soo Hyun, to which he replied, “Do it for real later.”

KSR: “I’m going back to filming. I’ll be back soon.”

KSH: “Come back soon, hehe. [heart emoticon].”

KSR: “[heart emoticon] *kissing sound*”

KSH: “Do it for real later hehe. Ah, is this not allowed too?”

KSR: “Nah, it isn’t. I’ll do it.”

KSR: “Do you miss me or not?”

KSH: “You? What do you think – do I miss you or not?”

KSR: “How would I know! If you don’t tell me, I don’t know.”

KSH: “Cute of you to ask that.”

KSR: “So do you miss me or not?”

In another message, he wrote that he wanted to hug her to sleep.

KSR: “You’ never wake up.”

KSH: “Yeah, I wouldn’t know, even if you kissed me.”

KSR: “So you wouldn’t notice even if I did it a few times. Yay.”

KSH: “When can I hold you and fall asleep? I think I’d be able to sleep really well then.”

KSR: “Yeah, I’ll let you do that.”

As Kim Soo Hyun previously claimed that the relationship only started when she turned legal, Bu questioned, “If this was not a romantic relationship, then what kind of relationship was it? I want to ask Kim Soo-hyun directly.” He emphasized that at the time, Kim Sae Ron was 17 years old.

Kim Sae Ron was found dead at her home in Seongdong-gu, Seoul, on the 16th of last month. Following her passing, the bereaved family claimed through the YouTube channel Garo Sero Research Institute that Kim Sae Ron had been in a relationship with Kim Soo Hyun for six years, starting in 2015 when she was 15 years old. However, Kim Soo Hyun’s side refuted this, stating that they only dated from the summer of 2019 to the fall of 2020, after she had become an adult.
