Delhi University has agreed with the decision to cancel the CBSE board exams. DU Admissions Department Chairperson Prof Rajeev Gupta said that we fully support the decision of the Government of India to cancel the CBSE board exams. The University is of the opinion that the health and safety of the student are very important. The university will now wait for the CBSE to release the exam results. In this regard, DU’s acting VC PC Joshi has said that admission to Delhi University will be done on the basis of merit this year also.
According to Prof. Rajeev Gupta, DU is all set for admission. However, it remains to be seen how CBSE releases the exam results. Since there will be no exams now. In such a situation, what will be the way of releasing the result, it has to be seen. Only after that DU will be able to take any concrete decision regarding admission.
This time in central universities, admissions were to be done through the Central University Common Entrance Test. The responsibility of which has been given to the National Examination Agency. But in the circumstances that have arisen due to the second wave of Corona, admission from CUSAT does not seem possible at present.
Prof Rajeev Gupta says that apart from CBSE, we are waiting for the results of other states’ boards. If the admission is not done through CUSAT, DU will carry out the process of admission to undergraduate courses as before.
At the same time, student organizations have welcomed the decision to cancel the examination. The NSUI issued a statement saying that the organization had been demanding this for a long time. At the same time, Krantikari Yuva Sangathan (KYS) said that the country is battling Corona. There is a lockdown in many states. Students and parents were also demanding the cancellation of the examination.
