Stung by America’s comments about Zaki-ur Rehman Lakhvi, the mastermind of the Mumbai attack in 2008, Pakistan has pulled its foot on India. Pakistan has claimed that its law and order is ‘efficient’ and has asked the US to express its concern over ‘terrorism being committed by India’.
America had commented
In fact, a Pakistani anti-terrorism court on Friday sentenced Lakhvi, the mastermind of the Mumbai attack, to 5 years in prison. On this, the US Department of Home Affairs said that Lakhvi’s crimes are more than terrorist funding and Pakistan should decide its responsibility for other terror attacks including the Mumbai attack.
Our law and order is efficient ‘
On this, Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry has issued a statement – ‘is fully following its laws and international responsibilities. The investigation, prosecution, and subsequent conviction by the due process show the efficiency of Pakistan’s law and order which works independently without any external pressure or influence. ‘
Boil on India
The statement further said that while attacking India, the legal process in Mumbai case has stopped due to the Indian side not sending a witness for cross-examination by the Pakistani court. The Home Department should focus its concern on terrorist activities by India, for which evidence has already been given.
‘Pretending to avoid FATF’
India on Friday lashed out at Pakistan after Lakhvi was sentenced to jail by a Pakistani court for financing terrorism, saying it had become common for Pakistan to “grudge” ahead of important international meetings. India said that these steps clearly show that Pakistan wants to demonstrate itself in action before the FATF plenary meeting in February 2021 and the APJG (Asia Pacific Joint Group) meeting.
