Police officer Mohammad Assad and Shia leader Khawar Shafqat confirmed the blasts. According to eyewitnesses, tension has increased in the city. The people of the Shia community are demanding revenge after the attack. Shafqat said the blast took place when the procession was passing through the very narrow Muhajir Colony. Condemning the attack, he said the government should beef up security for such processions, which are being taken out in other parts of the country as well.
Mobile services in this area are already suspended. The phone service was suspended a day earlier in view of the Ashura festival of Shias in Pakistan.
