Chicago, Jan 10 (AP) A man who opened fire from Chicago’s South Side killed three people and injured four others. The person was killed in an encounter with police at a parking lot in the northern part of the city. Investigators are trying to find out the motive behind the murder. Chicago Superintendent of Police David Brown told reporters that the shootout began on Saturday afternoon. The gunman shot a 30-year-old student at the University of Chicago in the head when he was sitting in his car in a parking garage in the Hyde Park area.
The 32-year-old gunman Jason Nightengale then went to an apartment and shot a 46-year-old security guard who was sitting at his desk. He then shot a 77-year-old woman there as well. The guard was declared dead in the hospital while the woman is in critical condition. After this, he snatched the car from a person of identity with a gun and went to a shop and opened fire there. It killed a 20-year-old man and injured an 81-year-old woman.
The woman’s condition is critical. The gunman shot a 15-year-old girl sitting in a car outside the shop. The girl’s mother was also with him. His condition is critical. After this, the attacker again went to the same shop, but the officers there were investigating the shootout before that, he opened fire on the officers.
However, no officer was injured. The attacker did not stop here, but he took the vehicle towards Evaston. It borders Chicago. Even stone chief of police, Demitrouse Cook, said policemen were also found to be shooting inside a shop. Actually, the attacker went to that shop and fired bullets threatening to loot but no one was shot there. The attacker also escaped from an IHOP restaurant, where he shot a woman in the head. His condition is critical. After leaving the restaurant, officers surrounded him in the parking area, where he was killed in an encounter with police. AP Sneha Nareshresh
