Out of the samples taken from a major hospital in Wuhan City, which is the center of the epidemic in China, 90 percent of the samples for a group of Covid-19 patients have been reported to have been damaged by the lungs, while five percent of the patients are in isolated habitat after being found infected again. This information was given in the media news on Wednesday.

A team led by Peng Zhiyong, director of the intensive care unit of Zhongnan Hospital, Wuhan University, has been re-examining the health of 100 patients who have been cured since April. The first phase of the one-year program concluded in July. The average age of patients involved in the study is 59 years.

According to the official Global Times report, according to the results of the first phase, 90 percent of patients ‘ lungs are still in a bad condition, which means that the airflow and gas exchange from their lungs have not reached the level of healthy people so far.

Peng’s team checked a six-minute walk-on patient. He found that the people who were cured of the disease could run 400 meters in a period of six minutes while the healthy people could have fixed a distance of 500 meters during this. Quoting Dr. Liang Tengcio of the Dongzmin Hospital of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, the news said that even after three months of getting discharged from the hospital, some patients who have been cured need oxygen machines.

Liang’s team has also been engaged in gathering information about patients over the age of 65 years. The results also revealed that antibodies against the new coronavirus were no longer in 10 percent of the 100 patients. The news said that five percent of them in the Covid-19 nucleic acid test found negative results, but the immunoglobulin M (IgM) investigation found infections after which they had to go back to isolation.

When a virus attacks, the first antibody by the immune system is usually the IGM. The positive outcome in the IgM investigation is generally that the person is still infected with the virus. It is still unclear whether this means that these people have become infected again. The results show that patients ‘ resistant systems are still recovering, “said Peng.

The news said that patients are suffering from a feeling of depression and stigma. Most of the patients who had been cured said that their families were still not willing to sit at a table and eat with them. It said that less than half of the cured patients returned to work. The results are important because coronavirus infection first surfaced in Wuhan.
