Israel Hamas War : In a recent interview, US President Joe Biden cautioned against any Israeli attempt to reoccupy the Gaza Strip, stating that such a move would be a significant error. Israeli forces were making preparations for a potential ground invasion while retaliating against an attack by Hamas on October 7.

The United Nations reported that over one million individuals have been displaced from their residences in the northern Gaza Strip due to Israel’s commencement of airstrikes against Hamas. This announcement came on a Sunday, accompanied by grave warnings of dire conditions in the region.

Israel initiated a conflict with the Islamist group the previous Sunday, following an incursion by a significant number of its fighters who breached the heavily fortified border. This incursion resulted in the tragic deaths of more than 1,400 people, the majority of whom were civilians, due to acts of violence such as shootings, stabbings, and burnings.

The ongoing airstrikes against those responsible for the initial attack have resulted in the destruction of entire neighborhoods and a death toll of at least 2,670 individuals in the Gaza Strip, with most of the casualties being ordinary Palestinian civilians.

In the pursuit of retribution for what is considered the most severe attack in its history, Israel’s actions have prompted warnings from both the Arab League and the African Union, cautioning that this invasion could lead to a “genocide of unprecedented proportions.” Additionally, there were grave concerns about the broader security implications of deploying troops in the densely populated enclave.

Iran, regarded as Israel’s foremost adversary, not only provides support to Hamas but also backs Hezbollah in Lebanon to the north. Recent escalations in cross-border hostilities in that area led Israel to close it off to civilians.

UN’s peacekeeping mission, UNIFIL, reported that its base had been struck by a rocket, although no injuries were sustained. Israel’s Defense Minister, Yoav Gallant, emphasized that Israel has no interest in escalating the situation further and is not seeking a conflict in the north.
