New Delhi: The Narendra Modi government is likely to bring a fresh resolution during the Special Session of Parliament to rename India as Bharat, sources told Times Now. As reported earlier, the government has called a special session of the Parliament on September 18-21. The proposal to rename India as Bharat may be moved during the special of the Parliament.
Droupadi Murmu- President of Bharat, invites G20 delegates
Interestingly, the Rashtrapati Bhavan, in its official communique to the G20 delegates, mentions Droupadi Murmu as the President of Bharat. The matter was raised by Congress leader Jairam Ramesh, who pointed out that the invites to a G20 Summit dinner hosted at the Rashtrapati Bhawan had ‘President of Bharat’ inscribed on them instead of ‘President of India’.

In what confirmed the underlying speculations that the government could move to rename India as Bharat, Ramesh took to X, formerly Twitter and said – “So the news is indeed true. Rashtrapati Bhawan has sent out an invite for a G20 dinner on Sept 9th in the name of ‘President of Bharat’ instead of the usual ‘President of India’. Now, Article 1 in the Constitution can read: “Bharat, that was India, shall be a Union of States.” But now even this “Union of States” is under assault.”

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took to X and said – “REPUBLIC OF BHARAT – happy and proud that our civilisation is marching ahead boldly towards AMRIT KAAL.” The opposition slammed the government and alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was ‘scared’ of the INDIA alliance. “BJP govt is scared of I.N.D.I.A alliance,” said RJD leader Mrityunjay Tiwari.
